It's time to show your cards, and read what the other poets brought to the table. The Linky widget included with this posting is a fine way to leave a link to your poem inspired by the 'animal' prompt, or any other poem you want to share. Comments are available if Linky doesn't work for you, or you want to add encouraging remarks, or any other remarks.
Saturday night, right after 'Hockey Night in Canada', I'll put up the next Totally Optional Prompt. And, thanks for your support.

I've left a poem I posted earlier in the week; I'll be back tomorrow to post one that is responsive to -- though not written in response to -- this week's prompt.
Happy Thursday!
I didn't set out to write about a butterfly, but this memory wouldn't leave me alone.

Mine for this week is up - Fauna - with apologies to Willaim Blake.
I've posted two pieces from my Moss Side collection - one of them's about animals, sort of...

I cheated and doubled up on prompts this week. You will have to scroll down past Love Letters for Doubling Up. my animal/food poem.
A poem for my book.

I was very surprised by how much i have enjoyed reading the poetry on this site. typically it seems the only poetry sites i find are of the 'i am 17 and depressed' variety.
I left a story that's on point. I guess you could say there's some poetry hidden in there.
Whew! Here's mine:
Cicatrix
So, here's the rabbit poem. I hope you like it as much as the other one!
From one mammal to another:
A SONG OF LIFE
Edward Ott: welcome to the show, and don't hesitate to throw your metaphorical hat in the ring.
I'm still having trouble figuring out how to leave a link to a certain post. I ended up just leaving the link to my blog in general. I can do that, but somehow, can't get the individual post part right.
This is what I tried first that didn't work:

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears! Is there a tutorial about this somewhere?
I know I'm getting sick and embarrassed by leaving more than one link each week and everyone else must be sick of seeing them!
Thank you!
Linda: here's what you need to do:
--go to your blog
--click on the title of your post. This will bring you to a new page that is just that post
--copy the URL from your browser's navigation bar
This is what showed up when I clicked on the title of your post:

Blogspot URLs typically omit words like "the" and "a", which is were your first attempt went wrong.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, Tiel and Sister for your helpfulness! I never thought of that! How easy, now, do do it right! Wish I was more computer savvy but am learning slowly thanks to the nice people on this and a few other sites.
Looking forward to this!
